According to a study carried out by Nationwide building society, the cost of houses in the UK now stands at more than 6 times the average national wage. The last time the pric/ wage ratio was similarly high was over 8 years ago and house prices have been on the increase for 3 years while wages have only increased to a much lesser degree. However due to continued low pintert rates, housing is still very affordable across the board, with the most affordable houses being in the north of England, Wales and Scotland.
