Hi team
My husband has just filed for divorce, which lead to a massive argument. He has left the house with our daughter.
Thing is, we both are named paying 50/50.
After going through the stress of dealing with solicitors, I have no idea where I stand with this property, in addition to this I came home to an envelope which was from my husband, he had returned the keys.
Do I now have to pay the full mortgage ? Will I be reimbursed ? If I pay my 50% will my credit be affected if he defaults?
Hi Mia
I am very sorry to hear of you recent troubles.
In answer to your question you are wholly responsible for the mortgage and the payments even if you husband chooses not to be.
You could look into having his name removed from the mortgage or the worst case would be to sell the property and start fresh with your own that may be affordable to you if the current property is too much.
Please do call on the freephone number or you can email in with our quick form and someone will all you back to help discuss your options.
regards
Mortgage Sorter Team.
