A British news network has issued a story about the purchases of rental properties by investors. The story notes the dramatic decrease in the number of these purchases since the government imposed a three per cent tax on the transactions in April of 2016. It noted there were 71,000 loans for rental purchases in a year since the tax was imposed, versus 142,000 the year before. The report noted that first time home buys have increased, in contrast, partly due to low interest rates.
