Fixed Rate: your mortgage rate will be fixed for an agreed interval of time. Bristol & West have fixed rate mortgages for 2, 3 and 5 years. Each product will then rebound to the Standard Variable Rate for the remaining term once the fixed rate period has concluded.

Variable Rate: your mortgage rate tracks Bristol & West’s standard variable rate (which is set according to the Bank of England base rate). The rate can either rise or fall according to interest rates. You need to ensure you can afford a higher payment if interest rates increase. Rates are set at a discount off the standard variable rate for 2 years. After the discount period over the rate will then go back to the standard variable rate for the remaining mortgage term.
