When is the best time to Remortgage ? Does everybody Remortgage and do I have to if i’m currently comfortable with the payments.

I’m going through a new transition in my life, I am finally moving out and looking to get a mortgage.
In searching for areas to live I thought it would be prefect fine to research potential gas prices, internet and car insurance.
Issue being I have entered my information for quotes, I heard this affects your credit score. Is that true ?
Will the searches affect the likelyness if being accepted for a mortgage ?
