Home sales have slowed and housing price inflation in the southern regions of England has also slowed. Discounts of 5% are are common now across South England with discounts of up to 9.6% in the city of Aberdeen. Larger city prices and inflation in the north have held stronger but are showing signs of slowing. Changes to taxes, affordability pressure and uncertainty over the effects of Brexit are all contributing factors of concern across England as well as weaker consumer confidence and rising mortgage rates.
