Fall in property ‘prices makes UK attractive for Qataris’ – Gulf Times

Property investors from Qatar it seems have found a hot investment in the UK. Both wealthy and middle class Qataris have been buying real estate in the UK, particularly since 2015 after the depreciation of UK currency against the dollar and with the riyal pegged to the US currency. The number of Qataris interested in the purchasing of UK real estate only managed to increase after Brexit.

In London Qataris are buying real estate of high value, both residential and commercial properties in exclusive communities like Kensington, Richmond and the West End of London, either to rent those properties out for profit or for personal use.

This interest in UK real estate actually came before the Brexit vote. Qataris had been expressing an interest in buying real estate as early as 2013 and 2014, according to Chestertons.

Qatari businessman Farhan al-Sayed and the activities at Cityscape Qatar 2017 suggest the real estate business is not just booming for investors from Qatar. Other countries like Spain, Italy, Turkey and the UAE also have a surge of various real estate projects.
