Houses near Heathrow could see their values plunge dramatically after the government approved a third runway at the airport. Estate agents have warned the area could be blighted by an increase in air and noise pollution, although there will be a £700 million noise insulation scheme for homes. 750 homes on the site of the new runway will be compulsorily purchased, and another 3,750 property owners will be given the option to sell. Owners of all these homes will receive 25% on top of the market value.
